Invitation to Experience Namibian Hunting Adventures
Introduction to Hunting in Namibia
Welcome to Namibia, a land of diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity, offering an unparalleled hunting experience. With its vast expanse and sparse population, Namibia presents a unique opportunity for hunters to explore its semi-desert terrain, lush bushveld, and expansive savannahs. Our hunting season, spanning from February to November, ensures that every enthusiast has the chance to embark on an unforgettable adventure.
General Information
Namibia boasts the distinction of being the second least densely populated country globally, allowing for vast expanses of untamed wilderness teeming with wildlife. The southern and central regions are dominated by the Kalahari Desert, characterized by its semi-arid conditions and iconic camel thorn trees. Conversely, the Caprivi region offers a contrast with its lush bushveld landscape, receiving significantly higher rainfall, nurturing diverse flora and fauna.
Summers in Namibia, from November to April, are characterized by hot, arid conditions, punctuated by sporadic rainfall. Conversely, the winter months provide ideal hunting conditions, marked by clear skies and moderate temperatures ranging from 5°C to 27°C (40°F to 82°F). Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or a novice, Namibia caters to all levels of expertise, offering abundant opportunities to hunt both big game and plains game.
Firearms and Ammunition
In Namibia, each hunter is permitted to bring two firearms, accompanied by a maximum of 80 rounds of ammunition per firearm. While hunting with black powder guns and bows is permissible, crossbows and certain firearm types, including handguns and automatic weapons, are prohibited. For plains game hunting, calibres of .300 or larger are recommended, ensuring effective performance. Alternatively, camp rifles and ammunition are available for hire at an additional cost, catering to the convenience of our guests.
Permits and Licences
Compliance with regulations is paramount, and every hunter is required to obtain a hunting licence from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET). At Chapungu-Kambako Safaris, we facilitate the acquisition of these licences on behalf of our clients, with the associated costs included in the safari package. Additionally, special permits are mandatory for hunting large cats such as leopard, cheetah, and lion, ensuring the conservation and sustainable management of these species.

Embarking on a Namibian safari necessitates meticulous planning and packing. To assist in your preparation, we recommend the following essentials:
